The Cavalry

I 'fixed' my problem of the hall light, but I don't feel like I really solved anything. It took 2 days, and I think I tried every combination of wires possible to get most of my lights functioning again. My electrical skills are struggling, and I already used the tiny bit of knowledge I had to fix one little problem (a problem that I caused, btw). And probably not according to any defined electrical building codes.

For insult to injury, the original non-functioning light switch is still not functioning. So, after a few days and more than a few trips to the circuit breaker, I'm throwing in the towel and calling in the pros:
