Black Pants Power

My office has a pretty casual dress code, and since I work in the art department, I get a little extra slack. Khakis or nicer jeans, collared shirts (tucked or untucked), even nicer uncollared shirts, all ok. You don't really need anything else.

Lately, thought, I've been in meetings with corporate guys and marketing guys, and I've noticed that they almost never wear khakis. They always wear black pants. Even on the days they don't wear a tie (I don't wear a tie, and can barely tie one), black pants are on display.

So I tried it out. I didn't have any black pants except suit pants, so I went out and bought some casual black pants. I wasn't quite ready for the fancy dress ones, and pinstripes are out of my league.

As I walked around the office today, wearing my black pants for the first time, I could feel the eyes of my co-workers moving from my face, down past my shirt, and resting on my pants. And I'm pretty sure they liked what they saw.

The Power of the Black Pants has been affirmed.

To celebrate this newfound power, I'm now wearing no pants.

Man, we're firmly of age for pin stripes. And it's awesome.

Twenty more years until monocles, my friend.

Wow, once again you have been broken by the corporate man. Shame on you. I miss the Curious George T-Shirt and blue jeans Kelly.

Just think...you're all smooth-looking in your fancy black pants and your little brother still doesn't own khakis....that's a shame

No khakis...but I do own 5 pairs of black pants. I've also been able to tie my own tie since 7th grade.

That's because you were shaving in 4th grade. You had advanced manskills.

Plus, ties are for squares.
